East Zone Round 1:
After 3 grueling weeks of first round of Zonal competitions, the Badminton B Boys managed to beat 5 other schools thus securing the top placing in their group. The Badminton ‘B’ Boys thus progressed to the next round of competitions.
East Zone Round 2:
Despite steep challenge from 3 schools having good track record in badminton, our ‘B’ boys worked very hard to overcome the odds and did the school proud by securing the top position in this group marching on proudly to the semi-finals.
East Zone Semi-Finals & Finals:
Despite the backing of hordes of supporters from the opponent school during the semi-finals, our players kept focused on their goal to be able to play in the finals. The team eventually managed to tear down the strong resistance from the Greenview-ians by taking one point at a time and cheering one another on.
Unfortunately during the East Zone Finals, we lost to the Anglican High’s team to become 2nd in the East Zone Badminton Championship. Despite the fact that we lost, our badminton boys fought as hard as they could, and brought new meaning to the phrase “虽败犹荣“!The players won accolades from teachers-in-charge of Victoria School and Dunman Sec. The former said that she would like to use our players as an example to motivate her team while the latter said that he understood finally why his team lost to our school during the first round.
Nationals Round 1: (Pilot Pen Cup National Inter-School Badminton Championship)
A highly charged week of matches that saw the players challenging their opponents (Maris Stella High School, Boon Lay Secondary School and Ang Mo Kio Secondary School) with perseverance and never-say-die spirit! We managed to march on to be in the Nationals top 8 together with Singapore Sports School, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), Raffles Institution, Montfort Secondary School, St Joseph’s Institution, Ang Mo Kio Secondary School and Bowen Secondary School.
