9 July 2012 is a meaningful and special day for Venus Tan Sze Ning of 12Y5C34 as well as Mrs Kimberly Silver Perry, Book Award Chairperson for the Wellesley College Alumnae Club in Singapore. The club had honoured Venus Tan for being one of the students among the top 5% of the cohort in 2011 and significant contribution to the Symphonic Band (Senior High) as Chairperson.

The Book Award Program recognizes young women who have excelled and gives them the opportunity to become better acquainted with Wellesley. Young women were chosen for their intelligence, determination, motivation, and achievement. Wellesley's history is rich with women who have demonstrated excellence in the classroom and in personal achievements and they hope to continue that legacy with the Book Award. In addition to public recognition of her achievements, the Venus also received a special edition of The Norton Book of Women's Lives, a collection of twentieth century literature of women's lives -- autobiographies, journals, memoirs.

Wellesley College was ranked 8th in Forbes America’s Best Colleges 2008 and has a long tradition in nurturing outstanding women including  Hillary Clinton (67th United States Secretary of State), and Madeleine Albright (64thUnited States Secretary of State, also the first woman to be the US Secretary of State).
